Description
Take time out from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and feel on top of the world as you see it recreated in miniature. Thousands of miniature buildings, people and vehicles capture the essence of England´s past, present and future. It´s not just the humour, nor the animation - it has a life of its own. Come to Babbacombe Model Village and see for yourself!
Babbacombe Model Village is famous for its miniature landscaped gardens, leading it to be regarded as one of Europe’s Premier Model Villages. The gardens cover nearly four acres and require on-going attention throughout the year by our team of professional gardeners. This ensures that they are kept in an immaculate condition and the scenes are kept to scale.
Whether a keen garden enthusiast or just a casual admirer, the beautiful landscaping never fails to impress our visitors. With hundreds of varieties of plants, shrubs and trees, including many new ones planted each year; the gardens are ever changing and offer a visual delight throughout the seasons. You may even want to take home your own plants carefully nurtured here at the Model Village and on sale in our gift shop.
Shrink Your Friends
Babbacombe Model Village presents a quirky new concept to help you provide the ultimate unique gift.
Would you like to shrink a friend, relative or colleague down to just 6 inches??!!
From good quality photographs, our skilled craftsmen can create a miniature replica of a person, or persons, of your choice - resulting in a unique and lasting model of them. This would make the ultimate gift. Maybe you are looking for a leaving present for a colleague or you are looking for figurines for a special occasion. Whatever your requirement we can make a replica of the person(s) of your choice.
Gulliver’s Café & Shop
Our cafe and terrace offer light refreshments all day (until last admission time). Allow time to browse in the Village Store, which offers a wide range of collectables, gifts and quirky souvenirs.
Visiting & Accessibility
How long do I need?
We recommend you allow at least 2 hours for your visit. Allow 3 hours if having refreshments or visiting our 4D Theatre.
Dogs Welcome
Dogs are welcome in the park and gift shop but must be kept on a short lead (They cannot go into the cafe or 4D Theatre). Please come prepared for any ´doggy doos´.
Car Parking
There is a local authority owned car park adjacent to the Model Village.
Wheelchair User and Disability Access
Extensive alterations have been undertaken to ensure that most of the village is accessible for wheelchair users. However, the Model Village is built in a steep natural valley. On entering and leaving the park there are very steep slopes and 11 widely spaced steps. Once down in the gardens it is relatively level with good paths. Manual wheelchair users are able to visit provided there is the help of at least one strong and physically fit assistant and plenty of time is allowed. Due to the steep slopes, the use of an electric wheelchair is not possible for safety reasons. The walk around is about 1 km (0.6m). To avoid causing possible offence we cannot judge individual abilities, if uncertain let us know - you are welcome to have a look first, or if you buy tickets and then experience difficulties, we are happy to offer a refund within a reasonable time frame.
