Abbeyford Car Hire is a family run business that has retained its ability to provide a courteous and personal car hire service despite expanding steadily over thirty years. Originally offering rental cars only from Exeter city centre, we now run a fleet of vans, minibuses, people carriers and luxury motor homes.

Our high standards of customer service and vehicle quality enable us to be proud members of the British Vehicle Rental & Leasing Association, who’s rigid code of conduct we adhere to. In 2004 we also added the Practical Car & Van Rental UK franchise for Exeter Airport as a subsidiary business to facilitate our expansion and to continue to give a local service with national back-up. Long term contract hire and leasing schemes for both cars and vans can be arranged.

A rental service is now provided to all local train, coach and bus stations plus Exeter International Airport. Regular collections and deliveries are made to local hotels, guest houses and bed & breakfast accommodation. We also still have time to service rental requirements for the local community and businesses.

Abbeyford Car Hire prides itself on not only offering the best rental service but also competitive rates. For clients arriving by train, coach or air, our representatives will meet you on arrival with your hire car. This is very efficient and you are on the road quickly as paperwork is prepared in advance. Arrangements will be made to meet you on your return.

We are happy to provide local directions and maps of Devon and parts of Cornwall are provided too. Child seats and boosters are also available along with satellite navigation systems. These services are available seven days a week including Sundays and bank holidays, by prior arrangement.

Our insurance cover at Abbeyford Car Hire is one of the most flexible in the trade and accepts drivers from the age of 23 to 75 (older drivers may also be approved). Most international licences are acceptable and some endorsements and restrictions can be accommodated. Additional drivers can be added for only £10 per hire.

Reservations are very easily arranged by email or telephone. We have a comprehensive range of manual and automatic cars with both petrol and diesel options, so please specify your preference when making your reservation.

Exeter Airport - As the specialist provider of vehicles to Exeter Airport we collect and deliver there for free! This means we can offer the fastest and most convenient service available. Our office and rental compound is sited on the airport perimeter so we can ‘meet and greet’ you in the Exeter Airport Arrivals area saving precious time.

Local Railway & Coach Stations - We will meet you if required at the local train and coach stations seven days a week. This includes Exeter St. Davids, Exeter Central and Tiverton Parkway also Exeter Bus and Coach Station are covered. Likewise, at the end of the hire we will collect the rental car from an agreed location.

This facility should enhance your overall experience, as there are no car hire operators sited at Exeter’s train or coach stations. If your train is delayed, we will also reschedule delivery for you.

One Way Car & Van Hire – This facilitates airport transfers from our Exeter Depot or Exeter Airport to other airport terminals throughout mainland United Kingdom (U.K.). Onward travellers can collect their rental car or van and arrange recovery of the vehicle from most regional and international airports anywhere in England, Wales or Scotland.
This self-drive car hire facility can also be used for other U.K. destinations that are not necessarily airports such as business addresses or homes throughout the country. The range of rental vans available for ‘one way rental’ span small courier style van through to long wheelbase (LWB).

U.K. Motorhome/ Recreational Vehicle (RV)/Campervan Hire - Why not tour Devon and Cornwall, in fact anywhere, with one of our Rental Motorhomes? A fleet of 4, 5 and 6 berth high standard specification Caravan International (CI) Campervans is available for U.K. touring holidays. Motor home rental within mainland Europe can also be arranged. These recreational hire vehicles (RV) are under 3 years of age. Optional extras such as cycle racks, satellite navigation, TV and bicycles can be provided if booked in advance. Specialist Vehicles and Minibus Hire – Our fleet includes cabriolet/convertibles, four wheel drive (4WD) and executive vehicles. In addition we have a 9-seater people carrier and for the group travellers and sports teams we can provide a 17-seater minibus. We can cater for your commercial needs in the form of diesel SWB Vauxhall Vivaro van, LWB Citroen Relay van and extra LWB Mercedes Sprinter vans.

N.B. We only charge a small additional cost for automatic transmission vehicles - Avis charge in the region of £60 more!

When comparing prices please be aware of the following key points:

• Our prices are fully inclusive of VAT, insurance, airport taxes & unlimited mileage.
• Additional drivers only add £10 per booking. Most rivals charge per day!
• Child seats/boosters are only £10 per hire.
• Our collision damage excess waiver is probably the cheapest around.

Car & Van Leasing - Business users including the self-employed, partnerships and limited companies can now take advantage of our tailor-made flexible leasing schemes. We are able to offer a flexible alternative to conventional contract hire. If you need a lease vehicle for between 28 days and 12 months, we provide a varied and ever-changing choice of both cars and vans from different manufacturers.

The leasing rates we quote are fully inclusive of delivery, breakdown cover, road fund licence and a replacement vehicle. Your only requirements are to provide fully comprehensive insurance and service the vehicle in accordance with the manufacturers requirements. Budget Car Rental - As well as our FIRST fleet of brand new and current models, our company is now running a second older fleet. There are a range of vehicles mainly between year 2002 and 2003.
